FAQ for Consecration of Yogeshwar Linga (20 – 23 Feb) & Consecration of Adiyogi on Mahashivratri (24 Feb 2017)
Where and how do I register for the program?

A volunteer will call you in 4-7 days to explain the various accommodation and seating options.
Note: Due to the overwhelming response for this event, if we are not able to attend to you and you do not hear back from us within this period, you can call the registration point in your respective country (list shared in the mail).
After you indicate the category of your choice, an email with a payment link will be sent to you within 24-48 hours entitled Please complete your donation. Please check your spam folder as it may land there.
Please note that the donation link is only active for 5 days.
Do I need to bring a photo id card?
Yes, please make sure to bring your original passport with you.
What time do I need to be at the Isha Yoga Center?
Please arrive at the Isha Yoga Center between 10:00 am and 9:00 pm on 19th February. As the consecration event will start in the morning on 20th February, it is mandatory to arrive latest by 9:00 pm on 19th.
What is the earliest I can arrive/ latest I can leave the Isha Yoga center? What if I wish to arrive earlier or leave later?
Accommodation is available for those participating in the Consecration of Yogeshwar Linga from 10:00 am on the 19th of February to 11:00 am on 26th Feb. To book accommodation for extra stay, please request for accommodation through the Suvya software.
Note: Accommodation is extremely limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you wish, you can also book an accommodation in hotels in Coimbatore city for your stay before and after the program, if accommodation at the Isha Yoga Center is not available.

What is the duration of the program and session information?
This is a five day event. However, if you wish, you can attend either one of the two or both:
Feb 20-23: Yogeshwar Linga Consecration
Feb 24: Consecration of Adiyogi and Mahashivaratri Celebrations
Please note: For the Consecration of Yogeshwar Linga (Feb 20-23), it is mandatory to attend all sessions, on all days of the program. If you miss one session, you will be ineligible to participate in the remaining program sessions.
Is it mandatory to attend Mahashivartri on 24th or can I leave after the consecration on 23rd? What time does the event get over?
It is not mandatory to attend the Mahashivaratri event on the 24th. You can attend either one of the two events or both. If you wish to leave immediately after the Consecration of Yogeshwar Linga is over, please plan your travel on 24th morning, as the event might get over late night on 23rd Feb. However, we encourage you to stay for the Mahashivaratri event as well, since this year is going to be a very unique and significant celebration with the Consecration of the 112-ft. Adiyogi.
What are the criteria for attending this consecration?
Anyone who has undergone the basic Isha Yoga Program (Isha Yoga / Inner Engineering including Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya) is eligible to attend the Consecration of Yogeshwar Linga (20 – 23 Feb). But to attend the Consecration of Adiyogi and be part of the Mahashivaratri celebrations (24 Feb), no prerequisite is needed. Anyone can attend.
Can I learn some other Isha practice online (like Isha Kriya ) to be able to attend the consecration ?
To participate in this program, one should have gone through the Inner Engineering program or should have completed the Inner Engineering Online program along with the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya Initiation program – learning Isha Kriya or Upa Yoga online does not make you eligible.
Also if you have learnt any Isha Hatha yoga practices (like Surya Kriya, Angamardana) you still need to go through the Inner Engineering program to participate in the consecration.
If you have not undergone the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya initiation and wish to register, you may do so but you will be allowed to participate only if you get initiated before the consecration. Inner Engineering is offered at the Isha Yoga Center, Click here to see all available dates
Can I attend this consecration if I’m pregnant or having my periods?
Yes, you can attend.
What is the dress code for this program?
You are required to wear only white clothing during the consecration event. Clothing for both men and women should be loose and comfortable, covering the shoulders, knees and midriff at all times.
(Please avoid tight fitting clothes, both for your comfort and as a gesture of respect for the local culture.)
Please bring a minimum of 5 sets of white clothes for the consecration event. (A limited quantity will be made available at the Isha Yoga Center if you wish to purchase some on arrival.)
For Yaksha and Mahashivaratri, you can wear Indian traditional / ethnic wear
Proper attire includes:
- Ankle-length pants for both men and women (no shorts)
- Long shirts or tops that cover upper arms and thighs.
- Dhotis and Saris
- Loose-fitting clothes. These can also be purchased at Isha Shoppe (ishashoppe.com, support@ishashoppe.com)
Please carry warm clothes and a blanket for the nights.
From December to March, the weather is moderately cold during the night and warm during the day with temperatures reaching a minimum of 17°C (62.6°F) and a maximum of 35°C (95°F)
Is there any possibility to wash clothes?
Due to a severe water shortage at the Yoga Center, washing clothes will not be possible. There will also not be any laundry facility available. Please bring enough sets of clothes for the entire duration of the program (5 sets of white clothes).
Can I use my mobile phone? Is there Wifi facility?
Due to the nature of the program, and for you to make the most of it, you will not be able to use your mobile phone from 20-24 February, during the consecration event. Furthermore, at the ashram premises, please avoid talking on the phone while walking. Mobile phone charging facility and wifi will not be available.
I don’t know Tamil. Can I attend this program?
The language spoken during the consecration will be English. Translations to Tamil, Hindi & Mandarin will be available. If you need translation for any of the above languages, please carry a phone which has an FM receiver and headphones.
What kind of food will be provided during the program?
Two wholesome vegetarian meals will be provided during the program.
Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
Yes, you can bring your yoga mat and any other cushioning you use for sitting comfortably (such as cushions, meditation chair, etc.)
How can I reach Isha Yoga Center after reaching Coimbatore?
Regular taxi services are available at the airport 24/7. It will take one and a half hours from the airport to the Isha Yoga Center. However, if you are reaching in the night, we recommend you pre-book your cab before reaching, to avoid any inconveniences.

Can people with diabetes, heart ailments or hernia do the program?
Yes. Please bring your medication with you.
I have difficulty sitting on the floor.
If you are unable to sit on the floor, you can speak to one of the teachers during the event and they will guide you.
For Parijata and Manoranjita: What if I am not able to volunteer, can I get a Mahashivaratri pass?
Due to the scale of the event, we encourage you to volunteer to make this event happen in the best possible way. There will be a separate volunteers’ seating area. However, if you are unable to volunteer, you can buy a separate Mahashivaratri pass.
Will participants also be able to volunteer for the event?:
Every Mahashivaratri is special in Isha, but this year we celebrate this auspicious time like never before. The grandeur of the two consecration events necessitates enormous preparation both inside the Isha Yoga Center and at the Mahashivaratri venue. We will be welcoming people from all over India and across the world.
This can only happen with your support, so everyone participating in the consecration is requested to volunteer for the preparations. Offering yourself through action is also a way to enhance your receptivity to this powerful process.
Will bedding be provided to us?
We are making efforts to arrange basic bedding for order from a third-party vendor. Participants can order the bedding online and it can be collected at the Isha Yoga Center on arrival. Details will be provided at a later stage. However, participants are encouraged to also carry some of their own bedding items like sleeping bags, bed sheet and pillows, in order to avoid discomfort.
Can I bring family members/ guests with me?
Only participants will be allowed to stay in the Isha Yoga Center premises during the program. We are not able to accommodate other family members or guests who are not registered as participants.
Can I bring my children? What is the minimum age required to participate?
The Isha Yoga Center does not have the facilities or resources to take care of children or minors during the program. We request you to arrange guardianship at home for them while you are here.
Participants should be at least 15 years of age and should have completed the Inner Engineering / Isha Yoga Program or the Inner Engineering Online with the Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya Initiation program.
Can I bring my vehicle? Is parking available?
Limited parking space is available.
How about security, is it safe?
The Isha Yoga Center is a safe place and security personnel are available 24/7. However with an event of this scale, we recommend you take extra care with regard to your belongings. As you will be staying in shared accommodation, please do not bring any valuables, jewelry, laptops, or expensive electronic gadgets. To safeguard your belongings, please carry a lock and key and keep your bags locked to be on the safe side.

Is smoking permitted at the Isha Yoga Center?
Smoking, alcohol consumption, and consumption of any kind of drugs and intoxicants are strictly prohibited. You will be asked to leave the ashram immediately if found to be using or in possession of such substances.
